Welcome Ministry

Mission Statement:
The ministry focuses on helping new members of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church to have a smooth and successful transition into the GHMBC Family. Once new members have completed their new members orientation, they become part of (WHM) and begin a one-year fun filled and productive transition into the mainstream of Good Hope life.

Children's Church

To provide age-appropriate training and biblical teaching: in a safe, loving, and caring atmosphere, wherein children will learn and know Jesus Loves and Cares for them. Children will be able to actively share what they learn with others, on a day to day basis: at home, at school, at play, and in their community.

Scripture:
Prov. 22:6

Vision:
Children will come to know and experience Jesus Christ and his love for them, in a bible based, Christian centered, loving, caring, and safe environment. Children will continue to grow, demonstrate Christ-like character and become more aware of their own spiritual potential.

Church's Clerk

Mission Statement:
Our vision is to build a devoted, faithful, and creative Clerk’s Ministry that notifies members/guests/visitors of all church meetings, activities, fellowships, and other events in the church, and to assist any ministry with updated information upon request.

Scripture:
1st Cor. 12:28, Eph. 4:1-6, 11-13.

Vision:
– To keep an accurate church membership role so that transfers and drops are performed after church vote or notification is made
– Give necessary information about new members to the Servant Leaders in charge of New Membership Orientation
– Provide the Pastor and Church Administration a quarterly update on new members, baptism, and other pertinent information
– Prepare the Annual Church Profile reports, sending ACP to the South Florida Baptist Children Home

Church Awareness Team (Safety)

Mission Statement:
It is the purpose of the security ministry to provide a safe environment for members and guests during worship services and when special events are hosted by church members and/or affiliates of Good Hope M.B.C.

Scripture:
Psalms 121:7-8
“The LORD will keep you from all harm — he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

Vision:
– Quarterly safety and security updates to Pastor and Church Administrator
– Seasonal and holiday safety information awareness to congregation

College and Career

Mission Statement:
The College and Career ministry is aimed at providing college students and young adults who are pursuing their career goals with the biblical principles and tools to help them navigate their way through the rigors of college. The ministry provides intellectual and spiritual resources as well as financial support as they pursue their goals.

Scripture:
Isaiah 40:30-31

Vision:
– To get with the women’s ministry in partnering with local and away college students to send letters of encouragement as well as call with prayer.
– Develop a wall in the LRC with pictures of all college graduates who have come through the youth ministry at Good Hope.
– Set up an information workshop with parents on college
– Our goal is to have students leave college with a diploma in their hand and a growing devotion to Christ and His Kingdom in their hearts.

Courtesy Patrol

Mission Statement:
For the welfare of the church and its member and surroundings.

Scripture:
Psalm 84:10

Vision:
To be steadfast in our duties by providing services of monitoring the parking lot and providing assistance to the our member from the parking lot to the sanctuary.

Culinary Care

Mission Statement:
Mission Statement: To provide healthy, delicious nourishment to those who hunger physically and spiritually for the word and fellowship

Vision: 

– The main vision that we would like to see put in place is: a new kitchen, space to work and store items.
– Secondly, we are implementing a Junior Culinary team to give them a jump start for the future church how to create and serve meals. They will be able to collect community hours for school joining the team.
– Establish guidelines for entering the culinary area. Safety is our main goal.
– Make sure events are scheduled in a timely matter. Advance notice needed in order to have good performance from the ministry.
– To have speakers place in the kitchen area so we can enjoy the services while working.

Deacon's Ministry

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to assist and support the pastor in advancing the spiritual well-being of Good Hope Baptist Church through the Biblical guidance found in the Word of God.

Scripture:
1 Timothy 3:8-12

Vision: 

– To assist the pastor in his or her mission and vision (Acts 6:3-4, I Timothy 2:7)
– To be a shining example of Christian virtues (I Timothy 3:8-13, Philippians 4:8)
– To attend the annual Men’s Retreat at Lake Yale in October
– To attend the monthly brotherhood meeting
– Outreach (Mark 16:15)
– Commitment (Acts 20:28)
– Obedience (Philippians 2:8)
– Accountability (Romans 14:12)

Family Matters
Faith, Hope, and Love

Mission Statement:
To unite faith communities in Polk County, Fl in active and engaged prayer, service and action-empowering people living with HIV.

Scripture:
Matthew 11:28: Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Vision: 
– To continue to distribute items collected for blessing bags
– Quarterly newsletter highlighting outreach, vital data and community engagement.
– To engage with other ministries in missions’ efforts
– Participate in HIV awareness in mission efforts
– Participate in HIV awareness nationally recognized dates
– National week of prayer for the healing of AIDS
– National faith HIV/AIDS awareness day
– Worlds AIDS day

Girls Empowered and Motivated to Serve

Mission Statement:
To develop and implement a practical approach to assist Middle and High School girls to move through pre-teen and adolescence into young adulthood while honoring Christ.

Scripture:

Vision:
– Help girls build a foundation for Christ one rock at a time

Health Care

Mission Statement:
Increase health awareness within the community by providing knowledge and promoting healthy life-styles that will encompass spiritual, physical, and social growth.

1st Corinthians 6: 19-20

Vision:
– Provide information about available healthcare resources within the community
– Provide health care screening
– Provide updated information on health-related topics

High School

Mission Statement:
Provide collegiate exposure to our young people entering high school by traveling to various local colleges around the state.

Scripture:
Proverbs 29:15

Vision:
– Engage in scripture and study of the Word to enhance their relationship with Christ.
– Help to build a one on one relationship with Christ
– To share their walk with Christ with other teens as they demonstrate their walk in their action at and away from church

Information Technology

Mission Statement:
It is our mission to provide the highest quality audio and video services within the Church, Our ministry provides audio/visual and media support to the church.

Scripture:
Matthew 28:18-20

Vision:
– To make GHMBC worship service available throughout the world through the use of technology through video livestreaming.

Intercessory Prayer

Mission Statement:
We believe that there is power in prayer, power in the name of the Lord and power in the Word of God. Our purpose is to intercede on behalf of others as the Spirit of God leads us. Praying for the universal and local body of Christ, our Pastor, homes, communities and salvation of the lost.

Scripture:
1 Thessalonians 5:17: pray without ceasing.

Vision:
– That all the intercessors will develop a powerful relationship with God.
– To plan a 3-day prayer crusade

Latha Murphy Speed Scholarship (LMS)

Mission Statement:
To provide financial assistance to students who display Christian values and a willingness to give service to the community.

Scripture:
Philippians 4:13

Vision:
– Provide financial support to at least three high school seniors or college enrolled students
– To give qualified recipients from 500-1,500 dollars depending on the availability of scholarship funds.
– To give much consideration to applicants who participate in the community by performing community service.

Marriage and Family Ministry

Mission Statement:
To support Christian marriage as an institution and to promote family values based upon Gods teachings and principles.

Scripture:
Genesis 2: 18-24

Vision:
– Building stronger marriages and families by honoring Christ. (Deuteronomy 6:5).
– To provide Christian couples and their families with an opportunity to share in social activities.
– Host Valentine’s Day Gala
– Host Picnic in the Park
– Host two Family movie days at the church
– Start a widow’s ministry

Men's Ministry

Mission Statement:
Bringing Together Men of All Ages To Grow In Relationship With Jesus Christ; Encouraging Each Other To Be Servant Leaders In Our Families, Church and Communities

Scripture:
Psalm 8: 1-9

Vision:
– Host the annual Lake Yale Men’s Re-treat with the focus being on “Integrity”
– Bowling fellowship with other men’s ministries in the surrounding areas.
– Host a 11 month study on Servant Leadership; Accountability and Responsibility.
– Continue to meet every third Saturday of the month.
– Seek out young men ages 18-25 to become more involved on the men’s ministry.

Middle School

Mission Statement:
To know Jesus Christ and to make Him known through evangelism, discipleship, and missions.

Scripture:
Deuteronomy 6: 7

Vision:
– To teach train, teach, and instruct our youth in the ways of the Lord.
– To provide an atmosphere of love and learning God’s Word.
– To prepare our youth how to meet the challenges of the world (through knowing and having a personal relationship Christ).
– To plan educational outings for fun and fellowship.

Mission Ministry

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Missions Ministry at GHMBC, in obedience to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ, is to proclaim the Gospel in its fullness beyond the immediate scope of activity of the local church, whether in our neighborhood, Florida, the United States, or abroad.

Scripture:
Acts 1:8: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Vision:
– To glorify God by fulfilling the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment, through ministry partnerships here and abroad.
– To partner with FBCH in an effort to bring clean drinking water to the people of Uganda
– To encourage and support our youth on participating in mission trips within and outside of the United States.
– To partner with the FBCH One More Child in supporting the need of children in Uganda by providing them monetary funding so that they can attend school
– To support one struggling local elementary school with mentors and other needed resources in an effort to enhance the student’s learning abilities
– To continue to provide free clothing and shoes to the local community through our annual Christ Clothes and Cake project.

Music Ministry

Mission Statement:
To know Jesus Christ and to make Him known through evangelism, discipleship, and missions.

Scripture:
Isaiah 12:5: Sing to the Lord, For He has done excellent things; This is known in all the earth.

Vision:
– To encourage choir members to have a strong and personal relationship with God. When He reigns, all else will fall in place.
– To share God’s awesomeness through music of sound doctrine.
– To honor God in holy song, dance, lifting of hands or by any means necessary of giving Him all the glory and praise
– To create a welcoming atmosphere in which the Holy Spirit can reign, rule and abide.

New Members

Mission Statement:
Our purpose is to love and encourage all new members in the Word of God.

Scripture:
Hebrews 10:24-25

Vision:
– To meet and greet each new member with a joyful and friendly welcome to our Good Hope Church!
– After completion in program, our desire is that each new member will feel free at home at the very beginning of their journey at Good Hope
– Enhance our class time with our new members by giving them the opportunity to share with us some of the things they would like to experience here at Good Hope
– Ultimate goal is to have new members to become involved in at
least one of the many ministries we have here at Good Hope.

Shepherd's Ministry

Mission Statement:
To mentor new members joining the Good Hope family by providing spiritual support, prayer and phone calls.

Scripture:
Luke 15:14: But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.

Vision:
– To participate in training to better serve others
– To be kind and receptive to others
– Always be prayerful and ask God for guidance in their transition
– Encourage participation in church activities.

Youth on Mission (YOM)

Mission Statement:
The purpose of this ministry is to expose High School Juniors and Seniors of GOOD Hope Missionary Baptist Church to short term mission trips. The ministry partners with the Florida Baptist Children’s Home and Orphan’s Heart to accomplish our goal. All High School Juniors and Seniors will be eligible to participate.

Sunday School

Mission Statement:
To study, teach, inspire, and help others to learn the Word of God in knowing His perfect will for our lives.

Scripture:
2 Timothy 3: 16-17: All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [a]instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Vision:
– To always teach and provide sound doctrine of God’s Word
– To promote new innovative ways in learning God’s Word — making it educational, inspiring, and applicable.
– To encourage growth for each class/outreach
– To add new teachers and build a class for young adults

Titus II

Mission Statement:
To Build an Intimate Relationship with Jesus Christ and others: To love others as God loves us and to become BOLD Soldiers for Jesus Christ.

Scripture:
Titus 2:3-5, Jeremiah 29:11 and Philippians 4:13

Vision:
– To sponsor a prayer breakfast.
– To attend the 2019 women’s retreat.
– Continue to invite ladies to speak at our meeting.
– Attend at-least one Bible study a month

Transportation Ministry

Mission Statement:
To continue transporting Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church members and guests in a safe and efficient manner. To use travel time as a teaching and witnessing opportunity, sharing the message of Jesus Christ.

Scripture:
Psalm 34:3: Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.

Vision:
– To continue to drive the church bus asking God for protection over the highway.
– Purchase of a smaller vehicle to pick up and transport smaller groups of people/members

Usher Ministry

Mission Statement:
To glorify the Lord by providing a safe, courteous, comfortable and friendly place to worship.

Scripture:
Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him: And He shall direct your paths.

Vision:
– To continue to exemplify a life worthy of the calling from God through commitment, dedication, and availability to serve.

Women's Ministry

Mission Statement:
To provide opportunities for equipping women in all areas of their lives by knowing and doing the will of God.

Scripture:
Matthew 28:19-20: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Vision:
– To seek God’s guidance for His people
– To diligently serve God and His people.
– To undergird the Women’s Ministry with prayer and fasting
– To provide opportunities for others to participate in the Women’s Ministry as leaders
